Dr. Vikram Mhaskar did his MBBS and MS (Orthopaedics) from the world renowned St John’s Medical College Hospital Bangalore. He then went on to get himself certified by the Education Commision For Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) USA by clearing all the steps of the United States Medical Licencing Exam with flying colours. He was awarded the Research Society Award Of Merit and The Fr Percival Fernandes Award for best outgoing Post Graduate during his tenure here. He went on to superspecialise in Knee & Shoulder Surgery by going on to do MCh(Orthopaedics) from The University Of Dundee. It was here that he was awarded the prestigious David Rowley Award. It is here that he published his thesis on the shoulder biomechanics of fast bowling with elite fast bowlers of the United Kingdom. He was invited to present his research at the ICC Cricket Conference held during The ICC Cricket World Cup in Australia. Following his training here he went onto do advanced training in Knee Arthroscopy, Trauma and computer navigated surgery from Sydney Australia, where he was awarded the ISAKOS and Australian Orthopaedic Association accredited fellowship. Following this he moved to Lyon France, where he completed his patello-femoral fellowship from the mecca of knee surgery Centre de Albert Trillat at the Hopital De La Croix Roux which is a FIFA Centre Of Excellence. Following his stint abroad he returned to Delhi to start his practise. He has since been associated at Max Superspeciality Hospital as a Consultant Knee & Shoulder Surgeon. He is keenly associated with academics, having over 15 indexed international peer reviewed publications and 5 textbook chapters on knee and shoulder surgery in world renowned textbooks of knee surgery published by famous publication houses like Springer Publications. He is a co author of the famous orthopaedic textbook ‘Essential Orthopaedics’, that is read by all medical students in India. He has been invited as a faculty at numerous knee and shoulder conferences and imparts his knowledge to young upcoming surgeons.
